Weigh in: Down 0 pounds since last Monday
Total loss: 33 pounds since Jan 5th!
(230 lbs) Really?

Soooo, I did NOT get back on track this week. Not even close. I wouldn’t call it a free-for-all exactly but yeah… could’ve done better. I did manage to get a little more water in and worked out four days out of the week. Eh. But I had lots of family events and celebration which came with cake, lemon bars, ice cream, all the good stuff.

My goals for this week? Same as last week! Only for real this time! Today was slightly better. Getting back on track with the water but as you can see I’m up in the middle of the night so that’s not a good thing. Here’s hoping for a better week for us all!

Weigh in: Down 3 pounds since last Monday
Total loss: 33 pounds since Jan 5th!
(230 lbs)

Back at “real” boot camp today so I’m going to stop feeling bad about the weight (muscle) loss from being sick. It’s all coming back! And I’m almost better! Recovering from a sinus infection but with a little ibuprofen and Sudafed in the morning I’m good to go! And since I feel like I’m starting over again this week’s goals will reflect that:

It’s back to basics baby! Have a great week Mamavation Moms and Plus Size Bloggers!

Losing it! week 6?

23 Apr 2010 In: Losing it!

I am down another 3.5 pounds (of muscle, presumably) since last Friday. I have still been sick all this week! Almost two full weeks now. Totally out! It has truly and quite royally sucked. I am, however, starting to see light at the end of the sinus headache tunnel and am planning to get working out again this week. Hopefully tomorrow.

I haven’t taken a break from working out for more than a day in a long, long time and now it’s been the better part of two weeks. I am weak! I have been trying to get a handle on my eating again this last few days so that’s good but through most of my illness I was just eating what was on hand.

I feel like I’m starting over! Wish me luck! And good luck to you losing it ladies!

Weigh in: Down 2 pounds this week
Total loss: 30 pounds since Jan 5th!
(233 lbs)

I wish I could be more excited about my loss this week but I know it’s muscle that I’ve lost. Muscle that I worked good and hard for! I can’t remember the last time I was this sick for this long. It is absolutely maddening! I’ve been eating whatever is closest and trying to work-out with very little success. I’ve given it up the last couple of days in the hopes that it would help me get better. No such luck so far. Ugh…

Goal for this week: Get well!!!

Losing it! weigh-in

16 Apr 2010 In: Weigh-ins

This will be a quick update because my head is throbbing. I am down one pound this week but sadly it is probably one pound of muscle. I have been really sick the last few days and a little sick the rest of the week. I’ve tried to eat less since I’m just laying around all day but I have eaten several high calorie foods I wouldn’t normally touch just because I’m too tired to work on anything healthier.

I did still manage to get workouts in a few times this week because I’m addicted but I doubt they did much good and might be part of the reason I can’t kick this thing. I miss the world!

Goal for the next week: Get healthy!

Weigh in: Down 3 pounds this week
Total loss: 28 pounds since Jan 5th!
(235 lbs)

I can’t even remember what it would feel like to not want to get out of bed in the morning and workout. Okay, that is due largely to the support of my workout buddies (especially one Stephanie Shumway) but still… I want to get up in the morning and get my but kicked! Who am I?

This revelation struck this morning when my husband nudged me in bed after the the snooze alarm went off, “Hon, it’s a quarter ’til. You better get up.” (I aim for 4:35) Hubby again a second later, “Crap! It’s a quarter to SIX!”

Me: What!!! *flings off covers, jumps out of bed, clothes and runs out door*

I didn’t roll back over and miss my workout, I wanted to desperately to be there today. I only got a half hour in so I will tighten my calorie allowance today but I’m just impressed I got my butt down there and made it happen. I’m one of those fitness-ey people! Hooray!

Whiiiiiiiich, just makes my 3 pound loss this week all the sweeter! I am on a roll! I am finally doing better with water but I would always like to do better and I managed to form something of a vitamin habit with last week’s challenge but I am still less than impressive in this area.

I have been stinkin’ it up with the freggies! So this morning I picked up some fresh spinach, grapes and strawberries and I’ll be getting out to the market later for some more produce. Gotta eat those freggies!

I am so, SO excited for this next Mamavation campaign and can’t wait to find out who the Mamavation moms will be this round! They are all awesome so it should be a pretty close race!

Last but not least, I hear that Subway has a delicious sounding, low-cal breakfast sandwich (under 200 calories!) that I am excited to try and hope to win!

Have a great week everyone! I know I will try!

Remember to take your vitamins

10 Apr 2010 In: Challenges

The vitamin challenge is over but hopefully it resulted in a well formed habit for some of us. It should not be so hard to remember to take vitamins! Something must be wrong with me. I missed a couple of days this week even with all of this hoopla going on and haven’t taken today’s yet. I lose! I love some of the ideas that have been posted for remembering so I thought I’d post them where everyone can see:

Angelina Morris
I take my daily dose of energy with my kiddos! We take them every night after we brush our teeth…my kids are my reminder to take them b/c they NEVER forget!!

Melissa Norcross
I take my vit. every morning. I put them on my shelf with my tooth brush! I have a difficult time swallowing pills so I take two childrens chewable vit Spongbob lol !!

Angela Padilla
I always remember to take my vitamins first thing in the morning. That’s how I get my day started. I wake up, drink a glass of juice or water and take my vitamins =)

Meg
I take my vitamins when I put my son to bed. I have a million things on my mind throughout the day, especially when I first wake up or when I finally stumble to bed, but I NEVER forget to put the 2 year old down )

Also, my “morning sickness” that is now dragging on into week 21 makes it impossible to swallow pills, so I’m rediscovering the value of chewable flintstones. After all these years they still taste pretty good to me!

Katie Davidson
Hi! I remember to take my vitimans by keeping them in my closet at work! I have to put my purse in my locker and the vitiman bottle HAS to be picked up and set on top of my purse to get it to fit :) so I can’t forget lol

Kristi
Definitely going to take on this challenge. I’m bad at remembering too. I keep mine by the kitchen sink and take one in the morning as I’m filling up my water bottle before I go work out.

Melissa Fischer
I used to take a daily vitamin when I was on Jenny Craig. I had it noted on my calendar. Every time I checked my food for the day, it was there to remind me. Once I started doing meals on my own, I forgot about the vitamins..

My daughter takes a multivitamin every day before school. We have the bottle sitting on the kitchen counter, so it’s right there when I’m making breakfast for her in the mornings. I was trying to decide what kind of vitamins to buy for myself, so that I can get back in the routine as well. Any suggestions?

Demanie
I have no method for remembering to take my vitamins, I just don’t eat anything until they’re taken. so… I guess that’s a method. LOL The vitamins I take are actually in the form of a green drink- Perfect food super green formula- best thing on the market right now. just make sure to hold your breath and mix it in cold apple juice!

Kat
I remember to take my daily vitamins in a couple of ways: (1) I try to take them at the same time every day and (2) I take the adult gummy vitamins, which almost makes it fun to eat! It’s like a little piece of candy (hey, whatever motivation I need, right?)

Dian @ Grocery Shop For FREE!!
I try to take them at the same time every day and even then sometimes, I do forget! I take them with meals and that helps me to remember.

Lona McClain
The way I remember to take my vitimans is that I leave them on my kitchen counter next to my salt and pepper My husband and I both take about 10 vitimans nightly!! When I cook dinner I place them on our plates so we will remember to take them…it has worked great for us so far!

Giveaway results:
And last but certainly not least, the winner of the $15 credit to Dolce Vita Mia on Etsy (selected by random.org) is… drumroll please… Kristi Harris! Congratulations Kristi! Mia, herself will be in touch with you soon!

I have been very reluctant to share pictures of myself here because I have just gotten so enormous and terrifying that it is painful to admit to the world what I have allowed to happen to my body. But in light of today’s news, I am feeling inclined to share. What news you ask? I am down 2 pounds from last week’s Losing it post which means I have just passed the 10% mark! 10% of my starting body weight is G-O-N-E, gone! It’s a party over here! Where’s my key chain?

I think I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’ve built up enough muscle that even when I’m just eating “okay”, not flawless, I am still burning more than I take in. This is remarkable. I will take it!

I’ve had a pretty good week. There was a little more Easter candy involved than I had planned but still so much less than I ate last year. Could be much, much worse. I’ve picked up my daytime activity level this week but missed two days of working out. Eek. Not good. Gotta get back in the game that way.

I’ve been okay at taking my vitamins but even with the challenge going on and all of my excitement about it I’ve still missed a couple of days.

So, for the moment of truth… the big reveal! (keep in mind that today’s “after” picture was taken on Easter morning with no make-up, no shower, no hairspray… yikes)

BEFORE (New Year’s)

AFTER (Easter)

Okay, so you probably can’t tell much of a difference but I can! And I’m happy with what I see.

Build your own falafel wrap

6 Apr 2010 In: From my kitchen

This is one of my husbands and my favorite lunches. I buy the falafel balls pre-made at Costo so these require almost no work! Here are the instructions for one wrap:

Ingredients:

1 whole wheat tortilla
4 falafel balls
your favorite hummus
tzatziki sauce (or just plain yogurt with a little lemon, garlic salt and dill mixed in)
sprouts, spinach and/or any veggies in your fridge

Instructions:
1. Microwave the falafel balls for about 50 seconds.

2.  Schmear hummus on your tortilla. I used red pepper hummus here.

3. Add falafel balls and sprouts, spinach or any veggies you can get your hands on.

4. Top with tzatziki, fold in half and enjoy!

Weigh in: Down 1.5 pounds this week
Total loss: 25 pounds since Jan 5th! 25!!!
(238 lbs)

I can’t even remember last week! My weekly challenge was to get dinner on the table by 6 p.m. If memory serves, I only missed this one day and that was by about 25 minutes. Woohoo! This next week’s challenge is to start taking a vitamin every morning. (There is a GIVEAWAY attached to this challenge if you’re following along) I’ve been meaning to do this forever and just never got on it so I am excited to finally conquer this challenge.

I’m also going to put some pressure on myself about my water consumption again. It makes the biggest difference and is one of the hardest things to keep up on for some reason.

Once again I made it to boot camp 5 out of 6 days. Niiiiice. But I skipped this morning to catch up on some sleep. I plan to make up for it this morning after dropping my middle kid off at preschool. I feel terrible missing my workouts but I have really been dragging and was well into the wee hours working on things. (Need to do that bed time challenge again. Not that holidays count, right?)

I did okay with my Easter goals. I ate a bit more chocolate (okay, maybe more than a bit) than I would have liked and felt pretty yucky but nothing like the damage I’ve done in years past. Missing my workout this morning only made me madder at myself. Grrr…

As always I’m looking forward to Mamavation TV tonight and the Ease Active giveaway. I swear I’m the only person I know that doesn’t have EA SPORTS Active so I hope to win one tonight!

One more week until the next Mamavation campaign launch! Whose excited! All of the candidates are awesome and I wish there could be five Mamavation moms so we wouldn’t have to choose!
